Todd Skokan

President and CEO

As President and CEO, Todd Skokan brings to BirdDogHR™ 22 years of experience and vision in the human capital management industry and a strong track record of leading double and triple digit company growth.

Leading the BirdDogHR team since 2013 Todd has produced unprecedented results. In 2015 the company was named to the Inc. 5000 List of Fastest Growing companies with 103% revenue growth from 2011 to 2014. The company also produced 53% revenue growth in 2014 over 2013. With sales flourishing the company has also expanded from 17 employees to 53 employees with plans to continue an aggressive hiring pace. Under Todd’s leadership both he and BirdDogHR have been recognized numerous times by the Technology Association of Iowa as Prometheus award finalists. Awards include 2016 CEO of the Year and Top Growth Company, 2015 Technology Company of the Year and Top Growth Company, and 2014 Break Out award. Todd, however, views his greatest achievement to be fostering an ethical, collaborative work environment based on servant leadership principles and transparency. Employees agree as they named BirdDogHR one of Iowa’s Top 150 workplaces in 2015.

Before joining BirdDogHR, Todd served as vice president of several human capital management organizations domestically and globally, many of them providing SaaS solutions. Over the past four years, and in a struggling economy, Todd led sales, marketing and channels for Intelladon, resulting in triple-figure growth in revenue and number of customers. For seven years, he was responsible for developing partner relationships and for creating and deploying a global channel strategy at GeoLearning.

As Sales and Distribution Vice President at Vital Learning, he oversaw the establishment of contracts with more than 35 reseller companies. He has also held executive positions at e-learning firms such as Learn2, SkillSoft and ITC Learning.

Todd is a member of the Association for Talent Development (ATD) and supports the American Cancer Society Relay For Life, as well as the Ronald McDonald House. He is a certified trainer in several sales and sales management programs. Todd has a Bachelor of Finance degree from the University of Nebraska – Lincoln and is an enthusiastic Husker fan.

Chris Lennon

Vice President of Product Management

Chris Lennon is Vice President of Product Management at BirdDogHR. He is responsible for ensuring the BirdDogHR Talent Management System meets the needs and exceeds the expectations of our customers. He does this by working directly with customers and partners, identifying key market opportunities, developing product strategies and bringing exciting new products, features and partnerships to market.

Chris is an active participant in the talent management community bringing over 18 years of experience to BirdDogHR. He has presented at numerous industry events and has been quoted as an industry expert in leading publications like Talent Management magazine, CLO magazine, New Talent Times, TLNT and HR Bartender.

Chris has held leadership roles in talent management product management for over 15 years. He joined BirdDogHR from SilkRoad Technology and before that he managed products for SumTotal Systems, GeoLearning, NIIT and Gateway.

Chris is an Iowa native with a degree from Northern Iowa University.

BirdDogHR VP Marketing Ann Torry

Ann Torry

Vice President of Marketing

Ann Torry is the Vice President of Marketing at BirdDogHR. She is responsible for all marketing functions including product marketing, corporate communications, field marketing and public relations.

Ann is a human capital management industry veteran, bringing more than 16 years of experience partnering with learning and HR leaders worldwide. She has contributed to the double-digit global growth of numerous SaaS and on-premise technology companies. Recently she led the content marketing strategy at SumTotal Systems and was also a key marketing leader at SaaS global learning provider GeoLearning.

An avid writer and marketing enthusiast, Ann has been published in Chief Learning Officer magazine and E-Learning! Magazine. She has also served numerous years on the board of the Iowa Chapter of the American Marketing Association.

Ann is a native of Des Moines and holds a B.S. in Journalism & Mass Communication from Iowa State University.

Vice President of Operations

Michelle Stedman joined the BirdDogHR team in 2012 and leads the Professional Services and Customer Care teams. Michelle's multifaceted background in corporate recruiting and agency staffing gives her a unique perspective into developing professional services that help BirdDogHR customers achieve talent management success. Michelle’s role and the Services' team focus is to maximize the success of BirdDogHR customers. Leveraging her own practical experience as a talent management leader, Michelle directs the BirdDogHR implementations, training, support, partner relationships and ongoing customer adoption.

A published author and frequent webinar speaker, Michelle was a District Manager for Kelly Services leading a large team of recruitment professionals as well serving as a Corporate Recruiter for a Fortune 100 company.

Ric Chaney

Vice President of Sales

Ric Chaney joined the BirdDogHR team in 2013 as Vice President of Sales. Ric is responsible for new business acquisition in the SMB space and increasing retention within the account management client base. With a rich history of over nineteen years in B2B technology sales, Ric understands how to connect companies with the right talent management solution.

Ric has been in a SaaS environment with a focus in human capital management since 2001. Prior to joining BirdDogHR, Ric was Director of Sales at Prositions and a Sales Director at Intelladon. Ric has led or been a part of high-performing HCM sales teams at Tribridge (Cornerstone on Demand Reseller), Infor (formerly Lawson & Enwisen), SumTotal Systems and GeoLearning. A proven expert at building and developing world-class sales teams, Ric has led direct and channel sales groups that delivered triple digit growth and exceptional customer value.

Ric is a graduate of Central College in Pella, IA and holds a B.A. in Communication with a focus on Business Management.

BirdDogHR VP Business Development Bryan May

Bryan May

Vice President of Business Development

Bryan May joined BirdDogHR in 1999. Prior to becoming the VP of Business Development, he held numerous positions in account management and sales. Bryan has been instrumental in BirdDogHR’s product evolution from job boards to cloud-based integrated talent management software. He also pioneered the building and launching of the AGC of Iowa Career Center, a talent acquisition system that helps public employers document their “good faith” efforts for recruitment and recruitment advertising.

A frequent speaker and talent management evangelist, Bryan has presented at numerous conferences and events. In 2014 he spoke to national and local audiences at 20+ different events including the Iowa, Minnesota, Kansas, New York, Carolinas and South Dakota AGC chapters.

Bryan is a native of Chicago, Illinois and a graduate of the University of Iowa.

Vice President of Information Technology

Chris Stedman joined BirdDogHR in 2015 as Vice President of Information Technology. In this position he is responsible for connected business operations, including the infrastructure and networking to support BirdDogHR’s growing customer base and the BirdDogHR complete talent management solution. Chris brings an extensive history including 15 years in software and hardware planning and implementation in a SaaS environment to help fuel the growth, promote innovation and increase BirdDogHR software productivity.

Chris has previously held IT leadership positions at federally regulated companies, including Federal Home Loan Bank and EMC Insurance.

Chief Architect

Todd Samuelson joined BirdDogHR in 2000. He has been instrumental in determining the architecture of BirdDogHR’s cloud-based SaaS ATS. Todd’s vision of the product is driven by simplicity and consistency of the user experience.

Todd has a passion for building and maintaining computer applications that solve business problems, implement new business ideas and make business processes more effective and efficient.

Todd is a native of Pocahontas, Iowa and is a graduate from Iowa State University with a B.B.A.

BirdDogHR Controller Sandy Newsom

Sandy Newsom


Sandy Newsom joined BirdDogHR in 2011 and functions as the accountant and office manager for the company. Prior to joining the team, Sandy held high-level accounting positions at Wells Fargo Financial, Principal Financial Group and Darling International.

Throughout her career, Sandy has worked with all aspects of accounting and financial analysis. She has extensive experience working with business managers/owners in a consultative capacity.

Sandy is a graduate of the University of Northern Iowa and successfully completed the CPA exam.

BirdDogHR HR Manager Dannielle Morton

Dannielle Morton, PHR, SHRM-CP

Human Resources & Compliance Manager

Dannielle Morton is the Human Resources and Compliance Manager at BirdDogHR. Dannielle joined the team in 2014 and is responsible for the full spectrum of human resources programs, services and functions for the company. Dannielle specializes in employment laws, compliance issues and benefits plans for high growth organizations. She is passionate about building a world-class team at BirdDogHR and creating a culture of trust and transparency.

Dannielle was previously the HR leader at software companies SmartyPig, LLC and The Right Stuf, Inc. and holds a B.S. in Business Administration with an HR Management emphasis from Colorado Technical University. She earned her PHR Certification from the HR Certification Institute in 2012 and the SHRM-CP designation from the Society for Human Resource Management in 2015. Dannielle is also actively involved in the local Central Iowa SHRM chapter (CISHRM), holding a board seat since 2014 and is a member of the Association of Training and Development (ATD).
